Artisan Dan is a small family business in Melbourne Australia, headed by our Artisan himself, Dan.

It all began from a concern about the increasingly highly processed world around us and our children.  After a period of investigation, we started educating ourselves in some traditional practices, and our business has grown from there.

Soaps

‘Saponification’ is the process that produces soap from fats and lye.  A lifelong interest in chemistry helped to drive the passion in beginning to create our own soap products.  These are produced with a cold soapmaking process with quality fats and oils rather than using petrochemical based products available from supermarkets today. 

Members of our family have previously had skin issues such as eczema and have found the natural oils in ArtisanDan soaps are healthier and gentler to the skin.   Moreover, using our soaps provides a natural moisturisation to support healthy skin. 

Our products come in a diverse range of scents and flavours to suit everyone. 

Bath and Skin Products

We also have produced a range of lip balms and body butters containing these natural oils.  They are amazing for those with dry skin issues.  These will soon be available for sale through the website.

Kefir

Here at ArtisanDan we also have an interest in ‘inner health’.  We produce Kefir which is a fermented milk drink.  This drink has been popular in eastern and northern Europe for centuries. 

Kefir is thought to be beneficial in maintaining gut health because it contains many varieties of probiotics.  Kefir is high in dietary minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium, copper, managanese and zinc.  As a result of the fermentation, very little lactose remains in kefir, and therefore can be beneficial to those sensitive to lactose.

At ArtisanDan we produce and sell kefir grains so that others can share in this wonderful fermented health drink too.
